something's swallowed up
the breadcrumbs
we were left

so
we
take

each day as it comes
and let it
lead us
to the next

pausing only an-
nually

to celebrate
our breath to
let life

laugh in the face
of death
to

measure moments
by their depth
and
by

the company
they keep

instead of
dressing
dogs as gods
who keep us fearful
while they sleep
we should
rest

and be
thankful for the path
however we've misstepped

:3 Optimistic little spin for the birthday day.

I feel like this should be snuggled and cooed into a baby's neck, or like screamed epicly at the top of a skyscraper, hamlet style.

!

This is very sweet. Love the first 3 stanzas!

I have a friend who doesn't celebrate his birthdays because, according to him, he didn't "do anything" to earn them. But I think the
"to celebrate
our breath to
let life

laugh in the face
of death"
part sums up the idea of birthdays perfectly :]

p.s.: nice drawing of a present ;]

I'm a real sucker for palindromes. ;)

thank you, sir. I considered
putting parentheses around the
s on gods, but decided it would
be noticeable enough.

much appreciated.

I will snuggle with your skyscraper,
and scream it on the top of a baby.

you're very welcome, Shane.
yeh, it was fairly obvious, but it was hidden enough as to question "I wonder if he did that intentionally or if it was just a awesome coincidence."

I assumed the former because you are a skilled poet. :)

:) thanks. I considered parentheses here
dogs as god(s), but decided against it. I
hoped it would be caught anyway. you sharp
tacks haven't let me down.
